Is Tanzania losing its status as East Africa’s most stable democracy? In this episode of the Conflict and Development in Africa podcast, Dr. Michael Wankpa sits down with researcher Dr. Nicodemus Minde (Institute for Security Studies, Nairobi) to unpack the unfolding political crisis in Tanzania.
We analyze the controversial recent election results where President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s party claimed a 98% victory, the rising frustration among Gen Z, and whether the ruling CCM party is following the path of other fading liberation parties in Africa.
