DR. PORTIA ROELOFS

Dr. Roelofs is a Lecturer in Politics at the Department of Political Economy at King’s College London where she leads the Global South Research Group. She is also a research associate at the African Studies Centre, Oxford and the Department of Politics and International Relations, University of Oxford where she is the co-investigator on the JFF-funded project “Management Consultants and New Frontiers of Governance in Nigeria”. She is the co-convenor of the Global Development Special Group at the Political Studies Association since 2020 and an advisory editor on the African Arguments book series. Previously, she was the Clayman-Fulford Junior Research Fellow in Politics and Political Theory at St Anne’s College Oxford. She did her PhD at the Department of International Development at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). She has a bachelor’s degree in politics, Philosophy and Economics from The Queen’s College Oxford and a masters in African Politics from SOAS, University of London. She has also spent time as an academic visitor at the University of Maiduguri, the Department of Political Science, University of Ibadan and IFRA-Ibadan.
